Link2Health
Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MHA-NYC, is a leading
innovator developing technology and communications infrastructure
critical for supporting the emotional well-being of individuals and
communities in need. Through its service networks and agency
partnerships, Link2Health Solutions provides high-quality, scalable
programs that reach over 500,000 people nationally every year.
Link2Health Solutions administers large scale suicide prevention
programs through agreements with the federal government's Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Veterans
Administration. These include the National Suicide Prevention
Lifeline, the Veterans Suicide Prevention Hotline and innovative
online resources such as the Veterans Chat.
National Suicide Prevention
Lifeline, 1-800-273-TALK, is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide
prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or
emotional distress. By dialing 1-800-273-TALK (8255), the call is
routed to the nearest crisis center in Lifeline's national network
of more than 130 centers. Over one million callers have received
immediate crisis counseling and mental health referrals. Lifeline
is administered by Link2Health Solutions and is federally-funded by
the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA).

Veterans Suicide Prevention
Hotline.
The Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Veterans Health
Administration (VHA) established a national suicide prevention
hotline to ensure veterans in emotional crisis have free, 24/7
access to trained counselors. In 2007, the VA contracted
Link2Health Solutions to operate the Veterans Suicide Prevention
Hotline. Veterans can call the Lifeline number, 1-800-273-TALK
(8255), and press "1" to be routed to the Veterans Hotline.

Veterans Chat
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Veterans Suicide
Prevention Hotline recently launched an online chat service for
veterans in emotional distress available at: www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/Veterans.
Veterans are encouraged to chat online anonymously with a counselor
available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Veterans Chat enables Veterans, their families and friends to go
online where they can anonymously chat with a trained VA counselor.
If the chats are determined to be a crisis, the counselor can take
immediate steps to transfer the chatter to the Veterans Suicide
Prevention Hotline, where further counseling and referral services
are provided and crisis intervention steps can be taken.
Lifeline Gallery: Stories of Hope and
Recovery uses speaking avatar products to enable suicide
loss survivors, attempt survivors, and suicide prevention
supporters to share their stories of hope and recovery. The
compilation of stories illustrates the many ways in which suicide
affects others and offers comfort to those who may be suffering
alone. The goal for the Lifeline Gallery is to raise awareness
about the effects of suicide, reduce stigma, connect people to
emotional support and offer help.
Dr. Phil created an avatar for the Lifeline Gallery which
encourages people in suicidal crisis and emotional distress to call
the 1-800-273-TALK.

Launched in 2008, At-Risk is
an interactive, online training program that teaches faculty how to
identify, approach, and refer at-risk students to counseling
services. In this 45-minute simulation, trainees assume the role of
faculty members in a fictional university where they analyze
students' profiles to identify those who could possibly pose a
danger to themselves or others.
City University of New York (CUNY) is the first to have enrolled
7000 faculty. At-Risk was developed in partnership with Kognito
Interactive.
